What Time is Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party runs from 7:00 PM to midnight with admission to Magic Kingdom as early as 4:00 PM.

Magic Kingdom will close to regular guests (ones without MNSSHP tickets) at 6:00 PM. After 6:00 PM, only guests with MNSSHP wristbands will be allowed to enter ride queues to ride rides while the non-party guests exit the park.

Because you are allowed to enter the park at 4:00 PM, you can use this time to ride rides, meet characters, enjoy the Magic Kingdom restaurants, and shop. You can even use this time to enter the character meet-and-greet lines early as they tend to garner some of the longest lines throughout the party.

You will not be able to enter Magic Kingdom any earlier than the posted 4:00 PM party time. If you want to spend your morning at Magic Kingdom (or any other Disney park) you’ll need to purchase a separate theme park ticket for that day and make a Park Pass Reservation (depending on your park ticket).

Know Disney’s Halloween Costume Rules

One of everyone’s favorite parts about Mickey’s Halloween Party is the ability to dress in costume! Whether you decide to coordinate costumes as a group or to shine solo as your favorite Disney Character (be it hero or villain), this is your time to go all out!

Before you decide to get crafting, you’ll want to make sure your costume is Disney-approved! I’ve listed a few of Disney’s basic rules below, but you’ll need to view the official list of costume guidelines on Disney’s website.

Some basic rules include:

  • No costume masks of any kind.
  • No props or accessories that resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.
  • You may not pose for pictures or sign autographs if you’re dressed as your favorite character.

Approved items:

  • For guests 13 and under
    • Costumes and some costume masks may be worn; masks must provide unobstructed peripheral vision at all times with openings that allow the eyes to be fully seen.
  • For all guests including those 14 years of age or older
    • Transparent wings, plastic light sabers, toy swords, and tutus.
    • Costume headwear may be worn as long as it does not cover your face.

Know Your Transportation Options for Getting to Magic Kingdom

You’ve purchased tickets, linked them to your My Disney Experience account, and planned the perfect costume, but how are you going to get to Magic Kingdom for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party?

Staying on-site:

  • Disney’s complimentary transportation will be available to/from your Disney resort hotel to/from Magic Kingdom.
  • Take the Monorail or Water Taxi from the Magic Kingdom area resorts.
  • Request a “Minnie Van” via the Lyft app.

Staying off-site OR DRIVING:

When staying off-site or driving to Magic Kingdom, you’ll be directed to the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) first before using Disney’s complimentary transportation to Magic Kingdom via ferry, monorail, or bus. To get to the TTC, you can choose to

  • Drive your own vehicle.
    • Parking fees are applied if you are not staying at an official Disney Resort
  • Use your favorite rideshare service like Lyft/Uber.

TIP: The Transportation and Ticket Center buses only run during peak crowd times but tend to be the quickest—and least known—TTC transportation option. When you arrive at the TTC, look for signs directing you to the right of the Monorail station to access the TTC buses. To return to the TTC via bus, you’ll want to return to the same spot where the TTC bus dropped you off.

What to do When You Arrive for Your Mickey Halloween Party

Although Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party doesn’t technically start until 7:00 PM, you can enter Magic Kingdom beginning at 4:00 PM on the date of your MNSSHP ticket! I highly recommend taking advantage of the extra park time!

How to Check-in for MNSSHP

If arriving at Magic Kingdom before 4:00 PM, you will need a theme park ticket, park pass reservation (depending on ticket type), or a park hopper ticket to enter Magic Kingdom. When it’s time for the party to begin, you will not have to exit and re-enter Magic Kingdom.

Beginning at 4:00 PM Cast Members will be stationed at designated check-in locations inside Magic Kingdom to scan your MNSSHP tickets and give you your party essentials.

Where to check in inside Magic Kingdom for MNSSHP

  • Magic Kingdom Main Entrance Gates
  • Near Tortuga Tavern in Adventureland
  • Near Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor in Tomorrowland
  • Fantasy Faire Gift Shop near Mickey’s Philharmagic in Fantasyland
  • Liberty Square Ticket Office in Liberty Square

If you’re unsure of where to check in, simply as a Cast Member and they will be able to direct you!

If you are arriving at Magic Kingdom after 4:00 PM, you’ll be directed to specific turnstiles at Magic Kingdom’s Main entrance dedicated just for Halloween Party guests. You will not need a theme park ticket or park pass reservation to enter Magic Kingdom after 4:00 PM, just your MNSSHP tickets.

When you check in, you’ll receive three essential items:

  1. Event Exclusive Wristband: You’ll want to wear this for the entirety of MNSSHP as it lets Cast Members know you’re a part of the fun! This wristband will be your “ticket” to meeting characters, seeing party-exclusive entertainment, access to those ever-important trick-or-treat locations, and entering gift shop locations during MNSSHP.
  2. Trick-or-Treat Bag: You will be provided with a Halloween-themed treat bag to fill up with as much candy as you’d like from trick-or-treat locations all throughout Magic Kingdom! Plus a full-size bag of M&M’s!
    • If you have an allergy, let a Cast Member know and they’ll provide you with a special teal trick-or-treat bag!
    • More details on trick-or-treating are provided below!
  3. Official Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Party Map: This will be your guide to everything happening at MNSSHP! Here you’ll find:

    • Character meet-and-greet locations
    • Trick-or-treat locations
    • Parade routes
    • PhotoPass locations

MNSSHP Firework Highlights

  • Showtime: 10:00 PM
  • Run Time: ~12-minutes
  • Location: Skies above Cinderella Castle

MNSSHP Firework Tips

  • To view both the whimsical castle projections and the full fireworks performance, you’ll want to be close (but not too close) to the front of Cinderella Castle.
    • Look for unobstructed views in the Cinderella Castle Hub between the end of Main Street, U.S.A., and behind the statue of Walt and Mickey.
  • For an up-close view of Jack Skellington with a minimal view of castle projections and fireworks, you’ll want to be close to the very front of Cinderella Castle.
  • Plan to arrive at least 30-45 minutes prior to showtime to secure your spot.
  • Dress younger kiddos in their pajamas ahead of time if you’re planning to leave after the fireworks. This way if they fall asleep they’ll already be dressed for bed.

Boo-to-You Halloween Parade Tips

There really is no wrong place to watch the parade! Just be sure to be on the side of the road that you’ll want to be on when the parade ends, because once the parade begins, you won’t be able to cross the street until after the parade finishes.

  • Because the parade starts in Frontierland, it will take roughly 15 minutes to arrive at Cinderella Castle.
  • The second parade tends to be less crowded.
  • Be in your parade spot roughly 30-45 minutes prior to the parade.
    • This will secure your spot & allow you to see the Headless Horseman riding through Magic Kingdom before the official parade begins!
    • If you want to watch Max Goof as Powerline, be sure to stand midway down Main Street, U.S.A., and towards the Main Street Train Station.

With all of the event-exclusive Magic Shots and PhotoPass opportunities available to you at MNSSHP, I highly recommend purchasing Memory Maker—especially if you will be in Walt Disney World multiple days and plan to take lots of Magic Shots and on-ride photos.

Memory Maker Cost

  • You can add Memory Maker to your entire vacation package or purchase it in advance for $169 + tax or purchase it during your visit for $199 + tax.
  • Memory Maker One Day is a special discount offer available for purchase at Town Square Theater during Mickey’s Halloween Party. This offer allows you to download all PhotoPass photos captured during the Halloween Party.
  • Whether the extra cost is worth it varies by family and trip duration, but MOST guests find it’s completely worth it during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.
  • If you choose NOT to purchase Memory Maker, you can purchase individual pictures starting at $16.99 + tax per picture.

PhotoPass Tips

  • Event-exclusive photos will not be available until the party officially starts.

How To Get The Perfect Cinderella Castle Photo During Mickey’s Halloween PARTY

  • PhotoPass photographers are not available on Main Street, U.S.A. near the castle during parades, fireworks, and stage shows.
  • Check the weather beforehand to ensure you don’t get rained on before you get your castle photo.
  • Consider waiting until the end of the party as you’re leaving to have fewer guests in your castle background.
