I Over the past three days I have the honor of being an attendee of The RSM Excellence Academy. It was an amazing 3 day event that I will forever keep as a core memory. I was given the opportunity to interact with a diverse group of scholars and professionals and create unique bonds with students from different schools across the United States. I am deeply appreciative to have been able to expand my knowledge in the fields of tax, consulting, and assurance. The environment was refreshing and unique. Everyone was polite, supportive, and pushed us to ask as many questions as we can, leading to invaluable advice. Additionally, Out of all the good things to remember the main thing that Ive collected from this experience is that “THE TIME IS NOW.” I have learned To never dilute my intelligence and always give my best self. The event was amazingly organized and structured, making it difficult to single out specific highlights. However, some memorable moments include the new wonderful friendships created, the networking opportunities during lunch and dinner, Red Flag Mania, the panelists that generously shared their time to speak, answer questions, and spend time with us, and a session with Kaplan Mobray A special thanks to my beautiful mentor Nicole Lindsey, MSOL who has guided throughout the whole experience and helped me through such a challenging setting. Also thank you to Daniel Booth and many other staff that help to put this event together.#RSM #RSM US LLP

Most #internalaudit roundtables I've attended are either:A) a sales pitch by the firms who host themB) a gorilla chest pounding exercise dominated by a few people who like telling you how great they are and that you should do what they are doingC) are boring and really talk about basic things that #chiefauditexecutive don't have top of mind....What has been your experience when you attend audit roundtables??? Together with this group of smart, insightful people I just finished the five-day AICD Company Directors Course. The course was excellent and made all the better by the group. It was a lesson in how valuable a diverse group around a table can be. As Flavio mentions, thank you to the facilitators who shared their wealth of experience and expertise to bring the content to life. Some of the many insights I take away from the course: 🌟 Diversity goes far beyond gender and background. Diversity is vital to create an environment around the Board table that encourages diversity of opinion, perspectives, approaches to problem solving and even diversity of bias. 🌟 Seek out the dissenting opinion and be grateful to have it - this is the bedrock of good decision making. Most issues at Board level are grey, there is no straight forward answers and difficult decisions require a robust, agreed decision making process. 🌟 One of the greatest skills a Director can develop is asking a good question. Look back and forward, use 'I' instead of 'you', express your feelings and explain why an action is needed and ask how it could be achieved. 🌟 The financial statements tell the story of the organisation over the last 12 months and may give foresight of future plans. As a Director you should be able to see the strategy of the business within the financials. If you don't see what you expect it's your responsibility to ask questions and seek clarity. 🌟 Just like an organisation needs different types of leaders at different stages, so too does a Board need different types Directors. Be prepared to step forward and step back when needed. 🌟 It is the Board's responsibility to set expectations for the culture of the organisation and lead by example. Culture can be the root of both success and failure of an organisation. It is the Directors responsibility to trust and verify - go out and see what's happening within the organisation. As much as I now feel more well equipped to sit on a Board, importantly I feel in a better position to assess a Board and company and decide if it is right for me. Big thanks also to Dainela Trevisan and the team at the WA AICD office for making sure the course ran smoothly. Carl co*ckerham, GAICD I look forward to seeing my 'classmates' around the Board table in the years to come. #AICD #companydirectors #goodgovernance #womenonboards

Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending a significant event at Trinity College Dublin, where we were joined by representatives from the Big 4 firms: Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG, and also Grant Thornton Ireland, Accenture and . This event was an exceptional opportunity for us, the MBA class, to gain firsthand insights into the world of consultancy from some of the most prestigious firms in the industry. Each presentation provided a unique perspective on their respective firms' culture and work ethos, highlighting the diversity of opportunities and the potential for personal and professional growth within the consultancy sector. Learning about their commitment to driving innovation and addressing complex business challenges globally was particularly enlightening.Reflecting on the event, my interest in transitioning my career into consultancy has been further ignited. The dynamic and impactful nature of consultancy work aligns well with my career aspirations and the skills I have honed during my MBA programme. The possibility of engaging in transformative projects and contributing to meaningful change is an exciting prospect.I sincerely thank the representatives (in no particular order of importance): Mark Keane, Padraig Ryan, Ben Donahue. Carson Heimann, Ankita Roy, MBA, Keegan Moore, Dr. Aoife Woods, Dami Aramide, MBA, Owen Thomas, Saloni Singh - MBA, PRINCE2®, Jessica Finn, Shauna Maguire, for sharing their valuable insights and Trinity College Dublin for organising such a beneficial event. The knowledge and perspectives gained have been invaluable in shaping my understanding of the consultancy landscape. As I consider this potential career pivot, I am keen to explore opportunities to apply my skills and experience in a consultancy context. I welcome any advice, insights, or recommendations from my network.#CareerDevelopment #Consultancy #MBA #TrinityCollegeDublin #ProfessionalGrowth #cybersecurity #sales
