But as it resolved Epson is sending me 2 new maintenance boxes and a full set of replacement inks - which is nice since it’s more than the starter kit as I understand it.

Josh

The initialization cartridges are even heavier than the normal ones you buy (115g vs 105g) so I assume they contain more ink. But they are almost empty after initialization (about 15% left). Nowadays they supply 2 maintenance boxes with them (from the beginning just one).

I don't mean to dissapoint you but from time to time I see this misconception about their initialization cartridges and try to get it right.

HI

Thanks for that. Sorry for very delayed response. In was referring to trying to print via photoshop creative cloud 2022. Since i posted the roll paper feed broke (still under warranty). The technician commented what a poor build quality and suggested a s/h p800 would have been a more reliable and robust machine. However it is now printing beautifully via either photoshop or epson print layout.

When you did the ink initialization setup you should only have about 30% ink left

30% ??? Ink, what a 20th century racket

It takes some ink to fill the hoses. Nothing strange about that. What I think they should have done is to include another full set of inks or at least state that VERY clearly so that customers can take that into account before buying.

Haha I'm still using my same original ink set from the first of the year. You guys don't know how to be miserly with your ink usage!

Has anyone found a resolution to this problem??
I just received mine yesterday with the same problem.
Initialization isn't putting any ink in the tubes. The cartridges are now showing 30%
I purchased from B&H who unfortunately is closed until passover ends next weekend.

I had the same problem and here's what Epson technical support said:

Thank you for contacting Epson regarding your Epson SureColor P900.This issue could be an indication of clogged nozzles of the printer. Please uninstall and reinstall the ink cartridges (or the one recently replaced) and run three head cleaning cycles with a nozzle check in-between. If the nozzle check is almost 100%, leave the printer off for 12 hours then do another cycle of cleaning and nozzle checks the next day.

And it worked. It did burn through a maintenance box, though.

Just got my new Epson p900 setup. Ink loaded. Paper in. Hit the print check print head nozzle check. Pulls in paper. Print Head moves back and forth like it’s printing. Paper comes out. Blank. Repeat three times same result.
Issue clean print head comman, run nozzle check. Still blank page. Repeat again. Still blank page.

Ink shows in all 10 cartridges. Pulled maintenance tank and it seems completely empty. I looked at the ink delivery tubes to the head: There are bubbles of ink in them, but mostly looks empty.

Will call Epson support on Monday when they open. Any other suggestions before then?

One other thing you might try. Remove the ink cartridges and shake them each for 15 seconds. After reinstalling the ink, run the nozzle check followed by a cleaning, if necessary.

Oops, this was an old thread. Well, for anyone else has the problem, which does not seem all that uncommon.

Yes still going and producing good lovely results. As with others I find the replace ink cart message premature. I have been able to print equivalent of at least one square metre before replacing cart. Continues to make a lot of paper crunching noises when printing. And have given up on getting roll paper to work.

However the only time it has stopped mid print ..it did not resume again when I replaced cart. So I did have to completely redo that particular print .
