What will the weather be like in Oklahoma on Sunday, May 26?

Muggy and breezy weather continues Sunday morning with afternoon highs expected to reach the upper 80s and lower 90s. A weak outflow boundary is generating a few early morning showers along the Oklahoma and Kansas state line region. Most of these will dissipate quickly Sunday morning.

A weak cold front will enter northwestern areas over the next few hours and progress southward Sunday afternoon. A slight chance for a few isolated storms will be possible along and east of this boundary late this afternoon. If a storm does develop, it would be severe, but higher probabilities for severe weather will remain more eastward across the Arkansas State line.

Temperatures will start in the 70s and 80s early Sunday morning and quickly move into the upper 80s and lower 90s this afternoon. Strong south winds continue to pump low level moisture across the area resulting in muggy weather during the morning to midday hours.

As the front crosses the area this afternoon, drier air will arrive with winds changing direction from the northwest. Despite this boundary, temperatures will remain warm with afternoon highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s.

Later Sunday night, as drier air continues to move across the area, temperatures will drop into the 60s overnight and early Monday morning.

What will the weather be like Memorial Day, Monday, May 27 and the rest of the week?

Memorial Day weather looks pleasant with sunshine, drier air, and daytime highs into the mid-80s. After a slight break in thunderstorm activity, another active weather pattern arrives Tuesday and continues through the end of the week.

The main upper air flow is transitioning Sunday morning and will become more from the west and northwest over the next few days. This pattern is very normal for late May and early June allowing disturbances to our northwest to move across the state and usually brings storm complexes across our region.

Based on this pattern and the consensus of most data, the probability for shower and storm activity will continue from Tuesday through the end of the week. Higher probabilities will mostly be the late night and early morning varieties.

Some severe threats will be possible, mostly in the form of damaging winds and heavy rainfall threats. The upper air flow should return from the southwest by late this week into next weekend, continuing a threat of some storm activity. Other than Sunday's highs in the lower 90s, most of our daytime temperatures will stay in the 80s for the next week.
