Epson P900 - new from box, won’t print
Feb 21, 2022
Just got my new Epson p900 setup. Ink loaded. Paper in. Hit the print check print head nozzle check. Pulls in paper. Print Head moves back and forth like it’s printing. Paper comes out. Blank. Repeat three times same result.
Issue clean print head comman, run nozzle check. Still blank page. Repeat again. Still blank page.
Ink shows in all 10 cartridges. Pulled maintenance tank and it seems completely empty. I looked at the ink delivery tubes to the head: There are bubbles of ink in them, but mostly looks empty.
Will call Epson support on Monday when they open. Any other suggestions before then?

Sorry to hear. I would also take a good look to be sure ink hasn't been dumped where it shouldn't be. Is there a way to trace the path of the tubes?
Not familiar with initialization procedure on this printer.
Good luck.

If the lines look empty, then I'm not surprised it's not printing. I would take photos of them to show how the lines failed to prime. Probably best if you didn't do anything with the printer until you speak with support. They might just tell you to do a cleaning go fill the lines, but don't jump the gun. The mystery to solve is how you got in this situation to begin with. They're very helpful, so don't worry for now

Tale out some of the carts and weigh them accurately if you can.
A full cart should weigh 120g, an empty cart weighs 68g, and the carts should weigh about 85g after initial charging of the P900.
This might help understand where the ink is

The P900 cartridges are pressurized to force ink through the ink feed lines to the print head. Sounds like the pressurization pump/system failed.
When you did the ink initialization setup you should only have about 30% ink left for each color showing in the ink level monitor.

Are there really a pump? I thought the ink was contained in small "bags/bladders" within the cartridge and that there were a plastic "spring" that pressurized the "bag/bladder"?

The previous 3800, 3880, P800 printers that used pressurized ink cartridges have a pump. There are ink bladders in the cartridges. I “assumed” that Epson continued with the same system. Epson does state that the P900 has pressurized cartridges. The cartridges do have the air inlet valve that is normally used with air pressurized cartridges. You could be correct if Epson changed their ways........

Yes, the last photo shows the pressurized air nipple connection at the top, right of center, on the cartridge.

What was the solution to this issue?
I received a new P900 yesterday and have the same problem.

I'm also really interested in what the solution was. I had exactly the same experience a few days ago and just returned the printer for a full refund. Now I have my refund I'd still like to order an SC-P900 but I'm quite wary now that I'll get the same problem again. I was lucky the company I used didn't quibble at all, but they're not all like that.

Wow, had no idea that thread had taken off. (And thanks to Andrew for finding my in email so I could reply).
I Called support, they said my printer was not covered under warranty as the item was targeted for Central America….and therefore support couldn’t help me.
The printer came from Amazon, but sold by Woot (I will not be buying from Woot again). I packaged up the printer immediately and did an Amazon return. Amazon returned my money, I then went and bought the printer from a reputable company (B&H in my case).

Kinda glad it happened, if not I would have had a printer without a warranty.
I have enjoyed my P900 ever since, it goes a great job.

It takes some ink to fill the hoses. Nothing strange about that. What I think they should have done is to include another full set of inks or at least state that VERY clearly so that customers can take that into account before buying.

Just curious, as I have bought several things from Woot also, but did anything on the link say No US Warranty? The only reason I ask is when I see a big ticket item from them that I am interested in I will have to start looking for Warranty Info. I just assumed that Woot being part of Amazon would clearly identify Grey Market items sold in US.

No, there was no indication on the Woot page it was grey market. I checked it over again when I had the problem, and took a screenshot in case I was going to need it.

Haha I'm still using my same original ink set from the first of the year. You guys don't know how to be miserly with your ink usage!

The following is fairly clear, but does require one to research and read the published product data. Resellers will often omit this statement:
