Cullen, 77, of Litchfield retired captain the Springfield Fire Department and veteran of W. W. was stricken at his home Friday and died shortly after being admitted to Mercy Hospital. Since 1913, he had fought most of the major fires in this city, and during intervals up 1940 he served as acting district chief. Capt.

Cullen was vice-presi-1 dent of Springfield Police and Fire Fighters Association, a member of American Legion Post 21 and a long time communicant of Holy Name Church. Born in this oity, July 19, 1888, son of the late Frank and Margaret (Healy) Cullen, he was educated in local schools.
